{thankful}
Are you thankful each day? Even in the bad times, do you give God thanks for the blessings in your life? And in the good times do you remember to give thanks to Whom it's due?
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Do you stop and think how blessed you are to have not only woken up this morning healthy, but that you woke up to a roof over your head, food in your cabinets, and clothes on your back?
Did you take the time to thank God for giving you a job? Your car?
What about your wonderful family? Have you given thanks for them today?
And those are just a few of the big things.
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Colossians 2:6-7
God has laid it on my heart lately to express thankfulness in everything. I take a lot of what I have for granted...My home, my family, the food and water I have anytime I want it, the opportunities I have to make money, my bed, my clothes, my camera, being able to drive basically anywhere at anytime, friends to hang out with whenever....freedom to worship Jesus.
I'm sure you've heard of it. No matter how hard you try, it's difficult not to hear the news of the world. It's there when you turn the TV on, when you open Facebook. Pretty much everywhere there is something about the horror going on across the world. Christians, fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, are being beaten, tortured and brutally killed because they have chosen to follow our King. Families are fleeing the evil, only to end up in the middle of nowhere with no supplies.
I don't know all the details. I'm bad at understanding the articles I read, but anyone can see that it is really bad in Iraqi right now. I don't need all the details. I have enough to know that prayer is desperately needed. For those suffering, the persecuted. The mother's and fathers and children who have nowhere to turn but Christ.
And for the persecutors, hearts need to be changed.
"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matthew 5:44
It's really easy for me to complain about incredibly small, meaningless things...such as having brothers that leave dirty dishes on the table, or about all the dirty clothes to be washed, or about how much cleaning we have to do in our house, or the fact that we ran out of chocolate.... you name it, I've probably complained about it.
Why?? Why do we continually point out all the bad, uncomfortable things about our lives when we are so amazingly blessed. We, fallen human beings who have dark hearts, are full of sin and are always turning from the path of truth, we have been forgiven. We have a King that loves us so unconditionally and Who pours out His grace on us daily. We have the promise of eternal life with Him. We have hope, a glorious hope. And yet we tend to forget those things and focus instead on what we don't have.
Boil it down and realize this: nothing compares to the Salvation we have through Christ.
Take everything earthly away and we still have everything we could ever possibly need because, y'all, we have Christ.
I am blessed beyond belief. I have so so much that I don't deserve. And I'm gonna work on being thankful for it all...Because, as we know, there are so many people out there who don't have enough to eat and drink. No house, job, car.
Basically what I'm trying to say is this: stop complaining. Live thankfully. Sing praise to our Father that gives us far more than we deserve.
And pray. Pray hard for those who are suffering for Him. Pray for those who are lost. Pray for revival. This world needs it desperately. Pray that Christ is proclaimed to the ends of the earth and that those who hear Him, receive Him.
Join me friends. Let's be full of thanks today. Full of thanks and full of prayer.
