Most guys take on things like golfing as a hobby, or fishing, or working out... Mine took on Falconry. ( Falconry  is the hunting of wild quarry in its natural state and habitat by means of a trained bird of prey.)  Most families have dogs or cats living in their yard.  Mine has 3 hawks and a falcon. It makes for great conversation starters, crowd-pleasers, most-interesting-story-contest winners.  Falconry is a way of life, my dad and brothers would say if you asked them, falconry is the coolest thing ever and if you don't think so then you have some major problems.  It's about training a wild hawk to fly to your arm when you whistle. It's all about catching squirrels, rabbits and small birds with a huge bird of prey.  ~ Most girls spend their Saturdays sleeping in, shopping for hours, or hanging out with friends... I spent mine walking through a field scaring up rabbits with 5 of the best guys in the world. ...

These last few weeks in the Morsel house have been a mix between extremely busy and wonderfully lazy. After recovering from a glorious weekend at the beach, applying aloe gel every morning, noon and night to my peeling/burning/still-red-as-a-lobster-skin, getting back into the school that I should have done weeks ago, taking long walks with Blessing, reading like crazy, practicing choir music, texting friends, planning get togethers, planning on planning our garden, sleeping in late, trying new recipes, making grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon...must I go on? And my TOMS.  And my sweet baby girl. <3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ But, mostly...We've been busy with hawks. Yes, I said hawks.  This past Saturday I set out with 4 of my brothers, my crazy Daddy, one of Daddy's co-workers and his sweet daughter and Mr. Dale. Our "Hawk Expert". We went hawk hunting. No big deal. For the past 2 years, Daddy, Spencer and Isaac have been studying falconry, the last month, Daddy and Spencer passed a test that allows them to capture a hawk, train it, and hunt with it!! So, after a delicious, buttery/sour-creamy breakfast at Cracker Barrel, we set out, with our binoculars and Walkies, and looked for hawks. It took forever. We just drove around and looked for hawks. But, after about an hour and a half, we found one we could catch!! Mr. Dale and Sp...
