{our Sunday + pictures from our week}

{Scroll down if you just came for the pictures and not the boring words. I understand that. It's okay.} I'll write this post in between bites of homemade biscuits lathered with butter and honey. And my ice water, because I really haven't been drinking soda. At all. {Be proud of me Cilla.:)} Downstairs, the older half of the rest of my family is watching "Worst Cooks of America". {It's become the new "Sunday Night tv show" ever since the terrible Downton Abby finale.} They watch it for laughs. I watch it to make myself feel better about my cooking abilities. I mean seriously. One of the dudes literally grilled cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. He placed the cheese right on the grill. No bread. And while we were all laughing, I had a flashback to the time I actually thought that was how you made grilled cheese. It's not. And I do know how to make a really amazing grilled cheese. Bacon and all. Today, after a really convicting ser...

  I have been very neglecting. And for that, dear readers, I am sorry. But, I have been...busy. Busy loving my Kindle Fire. And my TOMS.  And my sweet baby girl. <3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ But, mostly...We've been busy with hawks. Yes, I said hawks.  This past Saturday I set out with 4 of my brothers, my crazy Daddy, one of Daddy's co-workers and his sweet daughter and Mr. Dale. Our "Hawk Expert". We went hawk hunting. No big deal. For the past 2 years, Daddy, Spencer and Isaac have been studying falconry, the last month, Daddy and Spencer passed a test that allows them to capture a hawk, train it, and hunt with it!! So, after a delicious, buttery/sour-creamy breakfast at Cracker Barrel, we set out, with our binoculars and Walkies, and looked for hawks. It took forever. We just drove around and looked for hawks. But, after about an hour and a half, we found one we could catch!! Mr. Dale and Sp...

{one great year done...another has just begun}

Christmas was {almost} everything Christmas should be. It didn't snow, but freezing rain is close enough, right? The babies were sick, and didn't get as excited as we had hoped, but they were sweet and cuddly and ate a lot of candy. Overall, it was Christmas. And, for the most part, Christmas is always good. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's true, our 2 littlest were too sick to fully enjoy the craziness of waking up early, eating sticky cinnamon rolls, and making a huge mess unwrapping gifts. All Blessing wanted to do was sit on my lap and watch. Creed opened his presents like "Hulk would", but instead of being like his older brothers and freaking out, he neatly put each of his things in a pile and said sweet "Thank you's"  and then sat back down and looked like he was about to fall asleep. <3 I know every family does things differently. {We definitely do a lot of things way different from everyone else. ;)}...

{christmas: a random complilation of my thoughts}

It's almost Christmas y'all! Almost, as in, a day and a half. It hasn't snowed. At all. The temperatures have been very inconsistent...one day it might be 65...the next it's 43....then 56....then 32. But still, no snow. I love snow, and it kinda just makes the whole world look prettier. Whiteness, covering everything. {That is, it's all pretty till we drive around and turn over the dirt and make it go from a beautiful picture to a nasty one.} I'm making new traditions every year. Once again, I have to go out on Christmas Eve to finish my shopping.  I have been out helping to finish Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve for the last 3 or 4 years. I guess it wouldn't feel quite like Christmas without the last minute rushing around, right? Oh yeah. The awful flu has made it's self comfortable in our humble abode. It's gotten to know each and every one of us pretty well... I'm hoping we're not all so-miserable-we-have-to-stay-in-bed sick on Tue...

I played with the focus and exposure on my camera last night. And had fun. :) Me: "Isaac, how should I caption ^this^ picture?" Him: "Duh. 'I set fire to the rain.'" Duh. :) When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
